Political yard signs for Caddo DA, Caddo and city court judge, Shreveport mayor, Shreveport city council and constables are beginning to proliferate in Shreveport city limits.
Many of these signs are “outlaw”, that is posted outside the law (ordinance) concerning yard signs.
It is illegal to post signs posted in the “neutral ground”, which is the city-owned easement/grassy strip between the street and the sidewalk.
It is also illegal to post signs on vacant lots without permission of the lot owner.
The same is true for posting of signs in street right of ways, street corners and other public areas.
In years past Shreveport’s Public Works Department picked up the outlaw signs. To date, the Arceneaux administration has not replied to any inquiry from this writer if this policy will be followed this year.
Seemingly candidates who want to be elected should be following the sign law, and if not, how can voters expect them to do so if successful in their election campaigns.
So…the question is whether your favorite candidate has outlaw street signs?
