5 of the 6 major NW LA sales taxing jurisdictions saw a rise in their August receipts, while the sixth was flat.
The City of Shreveport levies its 2.75% sales and use tax rate, using a calendar fiscal year. Its August figure of $14,813,744 is 3.6% above the $14,296,023 in 2025. Year-to-date it's deposited $113,445,310, 1.8% greater than the $111,472,948 it tallied thru 8 months in 2025.
The Caddo Parish School Board imposes its 1.5% rate on a July 1 to June 30 fiscal year. Its $10,838,418 sum in August is a strong 16.9% gain over the $9,271,618 a year ago. Its 2-month YTD total, $20,929,941, is 11.3% higher than its $18,564,998 in the 1st 2 fiscal months.
The Law Enforcement District of Caddo, the Sheriff, has a 0.35% sales tax rate on the calendar fiscal year. It garnered $2,529,061 in August, a 16.9% increase vs 2025's $2,163,828. In 8 months, its tally, $18,254,939, is 6.0% above 2025, when $17,218,891 was received.
Bossier City-Parish employs the calendar fiscal year, It collected $5,749,543 in August, a 0.02% dip vs the $5,750,583 realized a year back. YTD it also is 0.02% down vs 2025, $45,131,741 vs $45,142,166. It is the sole sales taxing body down both in August and YTD.
Conversely, the Bossier Parish Police Jury, using the calendar fiscal year, is by far faring better than any of the other sales taxing bodies. Its August $1,326,014 figure is 8.3% above 2025's $1,224,451. YTD it is way ahead of any other sales taxing body. Its 10,812,032 total is a huge 23.4% spike above $8,759,040 in 2025.
The Bossier Parish School Board uses the July 1 to June 30 fiscal year. In August it received $6,171,735, a 2.5% bump over the $6,020,648 in 2025. YTD it has $12,461,662, a 3.2% gain over $12,080,901 last year.
