On Monday (Sept. 21) Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith gave his monthly crime report on calls for service to the Shreveport City Council comparing year to date with Sept. 21, 2025. Here are the calls for service: 1. Felonies   Down 13% 2. Vehicle thefts   Down 14% 3.

Yep–its still a mystery as to who Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins will nominated to be the next Shreveport permanent police chief.The city council agenda for Monday’s work session was just posted. It has NOTHING on the police chief.

WILL SHREVEPORT CITY COUNCIL CONFIRM POLICE CHIEF APPOINTMENT?

It may be a little early to ask the question...but undoubtedly its on the minds of the seven Shreveport council members.Shreveport mayor Adrian Perkins must name his selection of the permanent Shreveport police chief no later than the Shreveport council meeting on Mon. Sept. 23.

AIRPORT AUTHORITY NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH OPEN MEETINGS LAW

Add this to the list.Another bureaucratic snafu by the Shreveport Airport Authority.The airport authority gives money to local organizations–many of which have close affiliations with board members.The airport authority gets many free tickets to events that airport sponsorships underwrite.

SHREVEPORT POLICE CHIEF ADVISORY COMMITTEE HAS SENT NAMES TO MAYOR

Shreveport mayor Adrian Perkins now has the 3 names recommended by advisory committee to be considered for Shreveport police chief.These were not ranked in order of priority at the request of the mayor.Sources report that the finalists are Michael Carter, Tedris Smith and Wayne Smith.
