SHOULD CITY OF SHREVEPORT, CADDO COMMISSION AND CADDO SCHOOL BOARD BAN TIKTOK ON CELL PHONES, NETWORKS AND COMPUTERS?

In Dec. of last year, Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin banned TikTok on all department-issued devices following similar action the U.S. Senate took over concerns about the social media company's ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

Ardoin also blocked the app from the department's Wi-Fi networks and computers

Earlier this month Louisiana Superintendent Cade Brumley urged school boards to restrict the popular video-sharing app on publicly funded cell phones, Wi-Fi networks and computers.

TikTok critics fear the Chinese government is gaining access to critical information through the application and could be using it to spread misinformation or propaganda.

These Caddo public agencies, as well as those in other northwest Louisiana parishes, should consider the merits of banning TikTok.
