It’s just bad media journalism.
The KTBS website features a news story captioned “Northwest Louisiana offers 25-year tax breaks to lure hyperscale data centers.”
Unfortunately, the picture at the top of the news story shows a resident holding an opposition sign to the council proposal.
This is irresponsible reporting for the following reasons:
a. Signs are NOT allowed in Council chambers.
b. The person with the sign was promptly advised to put the sign down.
c. Many prominent Shreveport residents spoke in favor of the proposal and one of them would have been appropriate for a photo heading up the news story.
d. The photo encourages more people to bring signs at upcoming meetings,
e. The agenda item was approved over the opposition of the speaker.
The news story itself was factual. The photo depicted unlawful activity in the council chambers detracts from the copy. Hopefully a photo of a PROPONENT will be substituted or the story pulled completely from the website.
