RETRACTION: CADDO TAX ASSESSOR NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DELAYS IN TAX NOTICE MAILING

A SETTLETALK column captioned “Another Delay by Caddo Tax Assessor on Tax Notices is Problem Some” was factually incorrect. This column is retracted with apology to Dr. Regina Webb, Caddo Tax Assessor.

The letter below correctly sets forth correct facts.

Dear John:
I represent Dr. Regina Webb in her capacity as the Caddo Tax Assessor.
On Friday, December 5, 2025, you wrote an article that was factually incorrect. I am requesting that you make the following corrections to your article.

  1. Dr. Regina Webb was not the Tax Assessor in 2024.

  2. Dr. Webb did not take office until January 2025.

  3. If the tax notices were late in 2024, that would be during the term of the previous tax assessor.

  4. The Louisiana Tax Commission approved the Caddo Parish Tax roll on November 19, 2025, as is the normal process.

  5. The tax information was forwarded to the City of Shreveport on November 20, 2025.

  6. If there was any delay, it would be an issue with the City of Shreveport sending out the tax notices, not with the Tax Assessor.

  7. In 2024, the tax roll was approved on November 20, 2024 (Henington Tax Assessor), but bill printing did not begin until December 21, 2024.

  8. You stated Dr. Webb dropped the ball again in your letter. This is not factual, as Charles Henington was responsible for the tax notices being late in 2024, not Dr. Regina Webb.

Dr. Webb provided the tax information to the City of Shreveport on November 20, 2025, which was timely.
Your also state these problems did not exist under Charles Henington, which is simply not true.

I am requesting that you correct your statements immediately by printing a retraction.
