LET’S REVIEW IMPORTANT COMMENTS ON PROPOSED DATA CENTER AT COUNCIL WORK SESSION

The internet has plenty of information on data centers. The problem is knowing how current, and how credible, is the information posted on the internet.

Let’s look at comments by local people with credible reputations made at the Shreveport City Council work session yesterday:

1.      Mayor Tom Arceneaux The proposed location is zoned industrial The city has ample water to sell to a data center DOWAS will greatly benefit from water sales

2.      NLEP Executive Director Justyn Dixon
The estimated 1000 construction jobs will create substantial sales tax revenue Several local companies manufacture products utilized in data centers Data centers bring other businesses related to data centers

3.      Municipal Bond Attorney Mike Busada
The data center has strict requirements for hiring permanent well-paying jobs State-of-the-art data centers have noise levels comparable to local hospitals The data center will pay for any new DOWAS infrastructure needed.

4.      AEP Executive Paul Pratt AEP currently has sufficient electricity needed for data center Any new AEP equipment needed for data center will be paid for by data center Data center will not increase local electricity rates

5.      Shreveport attorney William Bradford
Community meetings will be conducted to answer questions of residents Strict compliance with the data center requirements can be expected

There will be more information provided to the public before the Council’s vote on the requested special use permit later this month. It’s important for the public to evaluate the credibility of what is spoken and published about this project.
