Goodness, Shreveport's Mooretown neighborhood should now be as clean as a whistle as far as trash, debris, junk, old tires, tree limbs and leaves, abandoned appliances and building materials, dead animal and you name it.
The combined efforts of Shreveport's Public Works, Property Standards and volunteers coordinated by Shreveport Green resulted in 100 tons of trash, etc. and 275 old tires picked up in the week-long effort.
The combination of a complimentary breakfast at Airport Park and lunch at Morning Star Baptist Church plus the cheerleading efforts of Shreveport Councilman James Green trouped out a large number of community volunteers this past Saturday to help with the effort. All who pitched in on this effort are to be commended.
The Southern Hills Block by Block which ended on Sat. Sept 6 collected one ton of trash and approximately 75 used tires. The Southern Hills community prides itself on neighborhood cleanliness.. Hat's off to Southern Hills on the low, as in very low, trash and tire amounts that needed to be picked up by Property Standards and Public Works.
