Today Shreveport City Court Chief Judge Emily Merckle administered the oath of office to Sarah Giglio to serve as judge pro temp in the seat vacated by Brian Barber when he became U.S. Marshal.
Giglio will serve until the November judicial election, or until Amy Brainard is sworn in as city judge if no one opposes her for that seat.
Giglio joins Merkle, Brittany Arvie, and Lori Graham (judge pro temp for suspended Shreve Sims) on the Shreveport City Court bench, forming the first all-female city court.
Giglio is a graduate of Texas A&M and SMU Law School.
She served as the 2025 Chair of the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, and she is a partner in the law firm of Gilmer & Giglio.
