SPD CHIEF REPORTS CALLS FOR SERVICE DOWN

On Monday (Sept. 21) Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith gave his monthly crime report on calls for service to the Shreveport City Council comparing year to date with Sept. 21, 2025.
 
Here are the calls for service:
 
1. Felonies   Down 13%
 
2. Vehicle thefts   Down 14%
 
3. Robberies   Down less than 1%
 
4. Burglaries (resident/business)   Down 15%
 
5. Burglaries (vehicle)   Down 13%
 
6. Shootings (persons hit with projectiles)   Down 17%
 
7. Homicides   Up 17%
 
8. Domestic violence   Up 5%
 
9. Vehicle crashes   Up 2%
 
These are CALLS for Service, not arrests.
 
Chief Smith also reported:
 
a. Year to date DWI arrests    Up 35% (Shreveport leads the state)
 
b. Traffic fatalities   Up 29%
 
c. Firearms seized year to date 565 (60% from convicted felons and 62% persons with possession of controlled substances).
