There are two vacancies of the Caddo Parish Industrial Development Board (IDB). The Caddo Commission will most likely fill these seats at its next meeting on Jan. 23. These positions were held by Lemar Flukers and Larry Ferdinand, who are African Americans.

SETTLE SUES CITY ON CROSS BAYOU BOND

                            John Settle filed a suit this morning concerning the proper expenditure of 1996 bond funds for Cross Bayou.Settle is asking the Caddo district court to decide if the remaining $2.8 million can be used to purchase property that is not located contiguous to Cross Bayou.

PROPOSED CROSS BAYOU DEVELOPMENT: UNANSWERED QUESTIONS

Several critical questions concerning the proposed development have not been publicly discussed, much less answered.A 1996 bond was passed setting aside $5 million for a green space and parks along Cross Bayou. Of that amount, approximately $2.83 million is unspent.

CHANGES AHEAD FOR CADDO COMMISSION ON JAN. 13

The current terms for Caddo commissioners end on Jan. 13. At noon that day the new 12-member commissioners will take office.There will be five new faces in the group — actually, four plus an old face coming back.Democrat Jerald Bowman will be replaced by Democrat Roy Burrell.

Funeral going is not one of my favorite past times. I missed two recently that I should have attended. I knew and respected both Dr. C.O. Simpkins, and O.Delton Harrison, Jr. The last time I saw both of these gentlemen we spoke. And it was not that long ago.
