Commission President Young Rules As Dictator

Caddo Commission President Greg Young continues to overstep his bounds as president in his efforts to control the Commission’s dialogues and votes to support his positions.

This practice is becoming increasingly obvious with his comments and rulings on any matters dealing with the proposed sports complex 60 million bond issue on the Nov. 3 ballot.

At Monday’s work session Dave Hackney addressed the Commission on the sports complex. While Hackney was referring to a well-documented comments by Hosston Mayor Kim Jaynes his three-minute speaking time expired.

Commissioner Ron Cothran made a motion to extend time, which is a standard action by the Commission. Prez Young did not allow a vote on the Motion, stating that the Commission had adopted a policy limiting speakers to three minutes, with no exceptions.

What?

Where did Prez Young come up with that “policy”?

Was it out of his rear end?

The Caddo Commission has NOT adopted such a policy.

Most speakers are allowed extra time for comments unless they are being repetitive or insulting or perhaps there is a long list of speakers on the same topic. This was NOT the case on Monday.

Unfortunately, no other Commissioner challenged Prez Young’s ruling, which sets a bad precedence for the remaining three months of Young’s term as Commission president.

President Young's totally incorrect ruling is detrimental to those supporting the sports complex and certainly gives fodder to those that want more information and transparency on this issue.

Greg Young is president of the Caddo Commission—not the Commission dictator.
